Our next Teachers’ Meet is on Thursday 29th June from 4.30 pm onwards, at Ashwood Park Primary School, Stourbridge (DY8 5DJ).
Following on from the success of the first B&C Teachers’ Meet held at the Nettl Studios in Central Birmingham, the intention is to have three meetings per year at different venues across the West Midlands.
The focus for the next meeting meeting will be on developing collaborative school networks. This Meet will encourage schools to share experiences and enrich their curricula through:-
- The Global Goals – The 17 goals which the United Nations have developed to end extreme poverty, respect our planet and fight global inequality. Many schools have started to investigate these goals with their children and we would like to try to share the ways in which they have done this. The next step may be to work collaboratively on specific global goals.
- Joining in model UN inter-school conferences. Over the next 12 months we would like to hold more of these with perhaps two or three schools collaborating to hold a mini conference and perhaps a larger coming together for a regional conference.
- Children’s Rights Respecting events. We are open to organising events such as the Great Get Together to encourage collaboration between primary schools and helping children develop as global citizens.
- Sharing international experiences. Many schools have successful overseas school partnerships and they can support schools who wish to develop their own international links. B&C will be announcing details of their next Gambia Study Visit at the meeting.
At this Meet we are also going to launch our “Create an African kettle display’ competition and our partners from ACE Embroidery and Nettl will be on hand to talk to teachers and show how they can help to make the teachers’ lives less busy!
